getLargeAnchoredAdaptiveBannerAdSize).
What you need to know
- Optimized sizing: This update focuses solely on the sizing logic within adaptive anchor banners. API usage and the banner ads themselves are currently not changing.
- Modernized layouts: Previously, adaptive anchor banners had hard limits for banner ad height that were set many years ago. On many modern devices, this often resulted in ads appearing smaller than intended relative to the overall screen.
- Potential for improved performance: The updated algorithm allows ads to make better use of available space. While individual results may vary, larger ads are designed to increase engagement and revenue potential for publishers.
Why a new API?
Since existing layouts were developed and tested based on the previous API, Large Anchored Adaptive Banners are released as a new API to ensure that current app integrations do not break. Because the new API is intended as an in-place replacement, the previous API is now deprecated and subject to removal in a future major release.
Testing your implementation
Because the new API may return updated ad sizes, we recommend that developers thoroughly test the new API within their app environments. This ensures that existing layouts and content remain compatible with the more flexible sizing of the new algorithm.
