When eligible, Google AI automatically generates additional video ads in multiple orientations, such as horizontal, square, and vertical. The system uses the following assets that you provided in your campaign’s ad and asset groups:
- Text and image assets
- Brand guidelines, including color and font (Performance Max campaigns and Demand Gen campaigns)
- App store images (App campaigns)
- Google Merchant Center feed product images (Performance Max campaigns with a Google Merchant Center feed)
The system identifies which video template, colors, font, and music best match your brand to maximize the quality and performance of the auto-generated video ads.
Google also continues to enhance the quality and underlying models of auto-generated video features. Launching first for Demand Gen campaigns, the system can now leverage generative AI to transform static images into high-quality, 10-second dynamic video clips. This is done by replacing traditional template-based layouts with advanced image-to-video technology.
This upgrade creates distinct, cinematic assets that keep your original content as the focal point. This enhancement is designed to elevate the standard of automated creative and drive overall campaign performance.

When the system first creates your auto-generated videos, it also creates a Google-owned channel to house all of your auto-generated videos. This channel is separate from any advertiser-owned YouTube channel that may be linked to your Google Ads account. You won't have the ability to manage or control this channel or make changes to the auto-generated videos.

- Performance Max campaigns: You can preview your auto-generated videos in the Asset Group details. They are labeled “Automatically created” under the “Source” column.
- Demand Gen campaigns: You can preview your auto-generated videos n the Assets reporting. They are labeled “Advertiser” under the “Source” column.
- App campaigns: Your auto-generated videos will not be visible.
